arrived in england

so the bad news is that I didn't have enough room to bring the beds with me - can you believe it?!!  after all that effort . .....  I'll have to find someone to give the beds to when I get home.

the good news on the other hand is that the setting for the sale is idyllic, and that tomorrow morning as from 8 they will be serving tea and bacon sandwiches for the stall holders .... YAY!!

Please forgive the short post, it's been a long day and tomorrow will be longer still.  I promise loads of photos tomorrow.

Also apologies for the fact that my follower button still hasn't returned from wherever blogger has banished it, and to top it all my readers are having trouble leaving me their lovely comments.

la vie n'est pas - toujours -  une longue fleuve tranquille!
life isn't always - that - easy!

Sunday morning update .............
Thank you for your words of encouragement girls, I have to admit to being a teeny bit nervous!
Very happy though that my daughter Ella is here to keep me company.
Hope you're all enjoying a good weekend

Doggy Bathtubs And Tunnels In Manalapan

The other day I took some snaps of a job that Steve and I are working on.
: : :
In the heart of Florida’s Gold Coast, the prestigious oceanfront enclave of Manalapan Beach lies in Palm Beach County, between the Town of Palm Beach and Boca Raton.

Buckle up.....
This cottage goes for a cool $ 20,000,000.00.

The dining room paneling is beautifully done.
This to me,
is amazing.
Look closely at the kitchen cabinets.
Behind the cabinets on either side of the sink,
the cabinets have been actually mounted on the windows.
BRILLIANT!!!!

This is the wall we will reupholster.
(my partner the genius Steve Grafton is on the right)

This is the ceiling in the master bedroom.
I could be very happy laying flat on my back in this room.
{wink wink}

and the pool....

more details

And this is 'HAL' -
he runs everything in the house.
Pretty wild isn't it?
But, there is more.

Every home needs an elevator.
I know that on some days ....
stairs look so daunting.

This is the view on the back terrace-with  a lovely fireplace.
That is the ocean across this 2 lane highway.

There are terraces all over. the front , the back, and the sides.
There is a huge pool house as well.
I think there is something like 20 thousand feet under air.

The view from the dining room.

This is one of my favorite features......
look at this picture.
You will see something
that looks like a garage under this railing...
IT IS NOT.
It is a tunnel to the beach.
It goes under the 2 lane highway straight to the ocean.

So CHIC!!!

This is my other favorite feature....
the doggie bath.

PEEK A BOO.....I see you!!
yes
that is me drooling over the many selections of onyx
that this brilliant designer used.
 He was handsome and charming.
Not a bad way to spend  a morning in Palm Beach.

What do you think of the glass kitchen cabinets,
the tunnel, and the doggie bath????

Bed Headboards.

Why do you need a headboard?  Actually, you don't!  Beds and headboards offer structure and style to a room.  If you're looking for a headboard, here are a few options you might want to consider...

This homeowner opted for a bed without a headboard. If the size of the room is limited or there are budgetary concerns, this may be a good option.  The leaning mirror not only takes the place of a headboard but visually expands the space.

Two twin beds can be pulled together to create a king size bed.  Similarly, two twin headboards can be connected to create a king size headboard.  The window makes an alluring backdrop.  I love the small singular picture hung above the bed.

Vintage shutters have been used to create a headboard with rustic charm.

Sometimes financial constraints result in the most ingenious and original design ideas.  This simple and playful headboard adds a whimsical artistic flair to the room.

Chalkboard paint can be cleverly utilized in almost any design scheme.

The tall stature of this tufted headboard adds to the exotic chic flavor of the room.

Upholstered headboards can (but not always!) be an inexpensive alternative.  Pattern upon pattern meld together in this bohemian chic bedroom.

Often those one-of-a-kind unique finds can be used to create the most interesting and eye-catching headboards.  This headboard was made from an antique door.  The natural wood lends character and warmth to the bedroom.

Upholstering the headboard in solid white allows the lines of the headboard to stand out.  The intriguing shape is reminiscent of church steeples.
