Bath Stool - Before & After

I needed to find a bathroom stool to fit beside of our shower to lay our towels on while showering.  I searched to find something that would be just the size.  I looked for months and could not find what I was looking for.  I really liked this stool from Restoration Hardware, but it cost $199, a bit too expensive.

I found this stool at Home Goods and it was just the right size and it only cost $25, a bargin compared to the Restoration Hardware stool.  Although, the right size, the right price, not quite as attractive.

I thought about trying to paint the frame and covering the seat in a white terrycloth fabric, but the frame wasn't exactly the look I was going for.  I decided to have the entire stool upholstered in an outdoor fabric that is stain and mildew resistent, a logical choice for a bathroom I thought.

I selected a chocolate brown trim to pipe the edges of the seat to match the dark finish on our master bath vanity.  I guess I have a "thing" for trellis prints.  I was naturally drawn to this one.

I am really happy with the way it turned out.  I wish I knew how to upholster furniture myself because it was really expensive.  I probably did not save much by doing this in the long run but I like the addition of blue fabric in the space.
