Designers Pat Healing and Dan Barsanti completed a one-day makeover for Connecticut resident, Cari Hynes.
Here is the "before":
Here is my take on the space: I love the ceiling, the dark wood floors are in really great shape, the natural fiber rug is too small, although it does add some much needed texture to the space, and overall the room is just too blah in my opinion.
Okay, I am not a huge fan of this rug. It really adds a punch to the room that it desperately needed, I give points for that.
I don't mean to be a stinker about this, but I don't care for this coffee table either. I think it is too high and it has nice sharp corners for the homeowner's two sons to run into. I would have selected a nice upholstered ottoman that they could slam into and put their feet on or sit on.
Score! I really love the white lacquer table and these gorgeous chairs. The table can be easily wiped off and it looks so polished in the space. The chairs are unique and they make a nice contrast against the white table. Bravo, I high five you too!
I love the geometric print of the drape selection. The hardware is pretty gorgeous too. I believe the homeowner already had this. This is a great tip too. Place a nail in the wall to hook the end of the drape on for a neat and seamless return. *I will have to try this.
Very pretty. I approve.
The reaction of Cari, the homeowner, for the big reveal...."after".
It is pretty. A bit too cluttered for my taste. I do like that the room has some personality that it was clearly lacking "before". I still do not like the rug. I think a bigger natural fiber rug would have looked better and complimented the chairs used with the white lacquer table.
I think the mantle is okay. I still think it is a bit cluttered. I would just prefer a single piece of artwork. I will give this makeover a 7 out of 10. I have to deduct points for the rug and coffee table...and too much stuff.
