Lovely Libraries. Time for Book Club?

Are you a book lover or voracious reader?  Home libraries help you organize your books and designate an area for the sheer pleasure of reading.  Relax and enjoy that collection of books you've collected.

The library in the Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica was designed by Kelly Wearstler.  The dramatic diagonal black bookcase is a show-stopping focal point in the room.  I've heard that she handpicked each of the almost 2,000 books on display proving that good design is in the details.

This library is both elegant and dramatic.  The use of natural wood lends a warm rich quality while the diagonal design adds drama and a contemporary vibe.

These bright colorful books lend interest and energy to the crisp white etheral library.  Interspersed with objets d'art they take on a sculptural quality.  The graceful furniture adds style and elegance.

The vibrantly colored books, along with the contemporary art, bring this bright white library to life.  Taking advantage of available space, books are lined to the ceiling.  Comfortable seating combined with a coffee table and ladder allow readers to enjoy this oasis of books.

Books are casually stacked along the walls of this neutral library.  Rugs, comfortable seating and a fireplace bring warmth and a friendly ambience.  Good lighting is always a must.

I love the lush kelly green drape that can be utilized to turn this library into a style enhanced sitting room.  Rich colors jump off the covers of the books onto the accessories and decor around the room.  Traditional furntiure mixes beautifully with a white Saarinen table and boldly patterned rug.  I would enjoy spending countless hours in this room.

A plethora of textures abound in this library and run the gammut from sleek and glossy to rough and natural.  A cowhide rug mingles with a slick white Parsons table, acrylic chairs, wicker baskets, and rough hewn beams.

The books appear unorganized in this natural organic library creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.  The slick white Saarinen table and bookshelves provide relief from the abundance of rough natural textures.

The traditional fireplace, molding and flooring mix deftly with mid-century modern furniture and lighting.  The pop of lime green at the window delights the senses.  This dazzling library is both aesthetically pleasing and functional.

What's better than reading a good book while gazing out the window at an eye-catching horizon?  Having a library or place to read that is completely open to the outside and surrounding vista.

The interest level is heightened in this library with the addition of charming chandeliers and an accent wall of wood "cubbies", housing a vast collection of books.  A pair of chaises and a window seat take the place of more traditional seating.  I love the idea of a designated media center.

The colorful books in this library have been meticulously arranged by color like a well-edited closet.  It creates a fun quirky aesthetic, especially when combined with a brightly patterned rug and comfortable daybed which beckons guests to linger.

This serene well-organized library features a designated sitting area, neatly lined bookshelves and a fireplace.  I love the wood parquet floor.

I'm uncertain if this photo is of a home or public library.  It appears too good to be either.  It is either the largest and most efficiently organized home library I have ever seen or the most stylish public library, complete with mid-century modern furniture and lighting, that I have ever seen.
