You don't have to be a globe-trotter to bring culture and style into your home.
One of my favorite stores, Anthropologie, the Bohemian chic retailer, recently unveiled small design studios within 12 stores. In these design studios you can browse products, receive samples, have access to design experts and attend regular workshops. This decorator concept is also available online. Some of the featured tools are a wallpaper calculator, glossary of common home terms, and upholstery fabric and wallpaper swatch requests.
Here are a few of my favorite Anthropologie home decor items...
I love the casual relaxed feel of this room. Nothing is overly decorated! The gorgeous white cotton voile duvet on the bed has giant, dimensional dahlias that spring to life and add a soft romantic feel to the room.
While I prefer a glass shower enclosure, if you need a shower curtain this one from Anthropologie has three-dimensional petals, artfully and beautifully arranged atop crisp white cotton.
The Axel Three-Seater is a conversation piece in and of itself! This amazingly structural piece is covered in recycled jute sacks that traveled through Europe, then finished with pops of passiflora welting. It's curvaceous low-slung seating is simultaneously a sofa and a chair. It's definitely unique!
The Illusion End Table is a sleek clear Lucite cube with nautical rope handles. It's the perfect juxtaposition of modern and rustic. It's chic, versatile and I love it!
The Moroccan inspired Kasbah Coffee Table has an octagonal top of reclaimed wood planks. The simple white washed finish adds versatility so it could fit seamlessly into any decor while adding a bit of global flair.
The graceful curves of the Italian Campaign Canopy Bed are made of sculpted wrought iron. It has both a traditional and modern vibe. The sloping posters can be removed to create a lower profile and the canopy could be left bare or adorned with textiles for a more substantial look. It's a beautiful versatile piece. The only downside I foresee is that the headboard could be incredibly uncomfortable to lean against.
Anthropologie has incredible assortment of knobs from crystal to ceramic, and in a wide variety of styles. My favorite is the pewter faceted glass knob (top). However, the vintage inspired doorknob would be a fun way to add character to a room.
