I am so happy and grateful to "Ms. Bright" from The Bright Life for guest posting on my blog while I am in NYC for Blogfest. I love her style and personality. I also follow her on Twitter, she just seems like a lovely person. She really put a great post together that I think that you will enjoy! xoxo

Before I say anything else, let me just say a huge thanks to Amy for asking me to guest post…I’m still incredibly jealous that you’re at Blog Fest right now, but this has helped to soften the blow!!!!

Hello all you Plain & Fancy readers!
When I was in design school, I can’t tell you how many times I heard “it’s all in the details”!! Even though it typically induced eye-rolls from me and my classmates, I’m a firm believer in this.
I also believe this quote from Suzanne Kasler to be true: "Don't let anything into your rooms unless it has meaning for you. Then, your home will always give you great pleasure. It will be an instant classic."
{Suzanne Kasler}
I like to meld these two into one mantra:
Always add a bit of you into the details.
Whether dealing with large formal rooms or small cozy dens keep this ideal in mind! Always find a place to add a bit of YOU into your spaces.
Maybe only you and your sweetie know the meaning…

A tiny trinket from a trip…
{Emily Jones of Jones Design Company}
A special memento from childhood…

Maybe use a part of a bigger collection…
{Camila Pavone of Effortless Style}
Or even a favorite sample sale or a thrift store find!
{Peacock Feather Events}
This image from my own living room shows a small side table that holds an orchid that I’ve kept for almost 5 years, a favorite candle gifted to me by my Gram who is no longer with us, a Murano glass paperweight brought back from Venice for me by my mama and a piece of ancient Delft tile that the Hubs found in Sint Maarten on our honeymoon.
See, it’s all in the details. So find a special something and make it decor. Like Ms. Kasler says, “it’ll be an instant classic!”
