greige in style...

The lovely Marie was sweet enough to send me a link to this beautiful pictorial on her home!
What an amazing job she has done in renovating the 100 plus year old home and making it into a modern eclectic space.  Her use of soft colors is just perfection!

To see more of her home check out the article in Capital Style and to see the piece that she purchased from My Sparrow check here...

Tracery Interiors always makes a beautiful statement and this home is no exception!  This lake house was featured in Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles last month!  I love the dramatic height and the soft pallet...

Meredith Heron is Blogging!

I posted about Design Goddess Meredith Heron back in December. Do you remember?
I am perfectly smitten with her design style and saucy personality. Honestly, I was so excited to find out that she will be attending Blogfest in NYC this month. I so look forward to meeting her in person, I only hope that I can remain cool and self-witted in her presence.

I follow her on Twitter, she is quite hilarious, and she totally gives fantastic sneak peeks into her whirlwind life as a designer and mother. She would be a crazy good reality show because she is not afraid to speak her mind and live her life with vigor and humor.

Goddess Heron has recently started a blog called Sashay.  This is one of my favorite images from her blog. Begin drooling...now!
I am entranced by the thought process of the combined inspiration of various materials like the wall paper, bracelet and business card in combination with the fabulous dressing room sketch. Genius.
This is an Ottawa client children's room.  I would say this is a lucky kid, kinda jealous really:)

Speaking of jealous, I am a tad envious of Christine of Bijou and Boheme for having Meredith design a new smokin' hot kitchen for her.  This is an insane sketch of a snakeskin settee with nailhead trim for Christine's kitchen. Beware, this image is Killer!
Okay, that is enough.  Why don't you just SASHAY right on over to Meredith's blog and see it for yourself?....check out her design portfolio on her website while you are there.

Design Influences..

I know I don't do a lot of talking here on the blog but believe me I am a chatter... you might be glad when I go back to short and sweet...

I have been thinking this morning about design and how I am influenced.
There are certain designers that I love- they can almost do no wrong.  But I must say that I am influenced by just about everything.  Everything we see effects us in some way or another.  I can always pick out what I like or don't like in a photo or a room but I don't always realize the more subtle things in everyday life that influence me.
Like light and nature that is a big one for me... I love the light in the morning as it hits the trees just outside my office window. It is soft and just that perfect color it makes the trees look fantastic..  I don't like those trees that much otherwise.

Things like that go unrealized for a long time and they effect us in how we live our lives and how we see things.  Little things like that color or that feeling flow into design and help shape design decisions.

I know I am rambling - but it is Saturday and I suppose it won't hurt to say something once in a great while around here..

I am so excited for my trip.. I cannot wait to be influenced by all things France.  I think that design and inspiration are growing changing thing that we just have to take a moment to see.  I promise to share share as often as I can.

Have a wonderful weekend!

The accent table

I am completely loving the trend to have multiple styles and sizes of accent and side tables in one space..
They are perfect to move around and use as needed.
You can create a great layering effect with them also.

These are a few of my favorites that I use as often as possible!
I have designed a few to use in our new line of furniture too. So so fun!

Falling for the Barbara Barry Fretwork chair,,

I fell in love with this space in the recent show house from Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles.

I even used it for lifestyle inspiration for a client and in doing so I was trying without much luck to find the source for the chair pictured in the room.

Well- found it- Barbara Barry for McGuire of course!

Love Love it! But I always love their chairs!

tonights' 60 minutes....

I have watched Christopher Hitchens
on every news channel there is.
.....And in complete awe.
He is a writer and a serious politico.
Me,
I definitely do not agree with his politics.
I have found myself cursing him out on the tele.

But, having had a crush on him
since the first time I found him in an interview on a cable news show...

He is so brilliant, and sexy.
His brilliance is what makes him so sexy

I have been wondering where the heck he had been lately...
He is more than a bit of a bad boy....
And tonight on 60 minutes I found out.

it is cancer.
He is 61 years young.

If you want to know more about who he is click on the links below.

more on

And it that wasn't sad enough.....

....More on the homeless families in Florida.

Kids coming home from school
and finding that their homes had been locked and boarded up.

(homeless kids take the bus)

The stories are heartbreaking.
And there
"but for the grace of g-d go I"

Make your gratitude list tonight and read it tomorrow too.

Kiss your loved ones both large and small.
The situation is so hard out there.

I know that no one wants to look at this or hear about it.
Tonight this piece on families that had lost their homes
to foreclosure just broke me up.
....the shame on the kids faces....
the pain and shame these poor parents are feeling...

When will things really turn around
for all Americans ?
