Plate to Pixel
I have a new book to read, Plate to Pixel. I first found out about this book when I was reading Lisa's blog, With Style & Grace. Lisa is a food stylist. I am working on a family cookbook and I am interested in knowing some creative ways to photograph some of the dishes. I plan on diving into the book when I get back from my trip.
This gorgeous book is written by Helene Dujardin. She has an amazing blog called Tartelette. It looks like the book has some detailed info on how to use my camera and I am excited about that.

Women in Direct Sales ~ 5 Books to Have
As you know, I just returned from a Leadership Conference in Newport Beach for Bamboopink. We learned from so many fantastic speakers about women in business for themselves. I love this quote, "If you wait for everything to be perfect, you will miss the perfect opportunity." So many creative women pass up great opportunities because they are not confident enough to take that "leap of faith". Sometimes, you have to just go for it! I really enjoyed listening to Carolyn Zainer, an interior designer by trade, as well as a fellow consultant for Bamboopink. Confident and enthusiastic are two adjectives that come to mind when I think of Carolyn ~ she and I hit it off immediately. Her wealth of knowledge in direct sales inspired me, and she also shared some wonderful books to learn even more. I ordered these for myself today.

Rob Lowe
I am really sorry for the lack of posts this week. I have been crazy busy. I am writing this and packing for my trip at the same time, so if I forget to pack my toothbrush it will be your fault.
I just wanted you to know that Rob Lowe and I are going to New York tomorrow. We will be back on Thursday. I have posts scheduled for the week so be sure to stop by.
While I am traveling, Rob and I will be getting to know each other. He is going to tell me stories that he only tells his friends. Maybe we will be more than friends by the time I finish the book, it looks to be really, really good.
I hope to have lots of great stories to tell you when I get back...blog friends.

I loved the book, Water For Elephants, and cannot wait to see the movie ~ In theaters April 22nd. Starring Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattison and Christoph Waltz, it's sure to entertain.

Un-decorated
Just out is this book, illuminating the latest tendency to undecorated spaces. It is lovingly assembled by Christiane Lemieux, founder and creative director of Dwell Studio. You can buy it here. It's certainly not a new concept, thinking of the gloriously undecorated rooms of the Bloomsbury Group.
Or the artistic salons at the turn of the last century: Gustav Klimt comes to my mind.

True, these stand out through their incredible creative energy, but any honestly grown place will always exude it too. Picasso held court, showcasing not only his art, but found objects, ceramics, his children's toys, beach gear next to design proto-types or his latest love...

Of course we often just see these outstanding homes of artists or, occasionally, writers.
But this development reverberates with my own design philosophy and once in a while there comes a moment where it surfaces in a trend. There will always be the un-decorating fellowship.
It's a state of mind and for time being maybe even people with order and perfection on their minds will subscribe to it for a while.
Perhaps what's so intriguing is the simple fact that it looks rather naturally lived in, not too groomed and perfect.
In these times, when nothing around us is perfect - and when is it ever - we might answer this by living just like that.
So go on, relax, have that bundle of books you read on the floor next to your bed, coffee table or on the kitchen counter! Make momentous exhibitions on the window ledge of these small treasures you just picked at the flea market or the consignment store, don't paint that old table to a perfect turquoise, less is more! Live happily with what you have and don't take decorating too serious! And let these pillows artfully lounge around your couch.

Healthy Living: Chicken Enchiladas
My daughter Catherine had to prepare a meal from beginning to end for her Spanish class. We ate her Chicken Enchiladas from Simply Mexican
by Lourdes Castro last night. I think it was the best meal we have ever had in this household. If you love chicken and tomatillo sauce - you will love this dish!

and finally.... Voila! Dinner is served!
