Thomas Smythe

Thomas Smythe is Designer Sarah Richardson's assistant.  He has a really cute personality and he compliments Sarah's superb design sense on HGTV's Sarah's House.  He lives in a 180 square foot apartment.  Canadian House & Home has a video tour of Thomas's apartment.  Click on this link to watch the video, http://www.houseandhome.com/videos/design-decorating/home-tour-thomas-smythe.  You know how I love Canadians:)  I think I need to visit Canada.  Maybe if I visit, I will automatically have better design abilities.

Here are a few of my favorite comments from the Q&A:

1 If you could shadow any designer for a day, who would it be?
Tommy Smythe I get to shadow my favorite designer every day (Sarah), but besides her I would say Rose Tarlow -- I'm in awe of her! Also, Thomas O’Brien because we’re friends and he is just so talented and fun to hang out with.
It seems that everyone says Thomas O'Brien is such a nice person and really down-to-earth.  I guess the closest I will be to Mr. O'Brien will be when I visit his line at Target.

17 What do you think is the best renovation you can do to your home?
TS
Whatever renovation suits your lifestyle! I'm a bit fed up of hearing about homeowners who feel that their reno simply has to be appropriate for resale. Life's too short to be designing one’s home to suit the next person who lives there -- do what’s right for you.
This is soooo true!  I think you should design and decorate to make yourself happy.  Unless you are planning to sell your house in the next month or so, I say go for it!  Make the changes you want.

20 Marilyn, Audrey or Jackie?
TS
Each is incomparable, but, let’s be honest, darling -- it’s Jackie. The other two were actresses.
Oh so true, Jackie O.  This guy is so lovable!

Also, check out the Design Inc website and look at the rooms from the past episodes, http://www.designinc.ca/home/

It is nice to be back in the blog world.  It seems like I haven't blogged in forever.  I need to play catch-up!
