I Love Glass

It Is So Important

And there are many reasons why....

Light

Bringing the outside inside -
I don't feel trapped in a room with huge windows.

It is bright and shiny....I like that!

While looking for just the right space for my new showroom....
 I found the location, and it wasn't easy to find a shop with enough
window from left to right that would make me happy.
I did. It was perfect.
It just so happened the spot made my partner happy too,
and we knew this was the only unit for us.
But getting it was quite another story.

But finally after much finessing ....
we finally have the exact unit that we wanted.
With big one big window!!!

re: this closet
Have you ever seen these closets ?
I am not sure, but I believe they are German made, and are absolutely cool.
Love them.

.

...and my point about how glass brings the outside inside,
it also will bring the inside outside.
 And that is just what I need
when potential clients are walking, or driving by.
Right??

LETTING GO

Don't worry about losing.
If it is right, it happens -
The main thing is not to hurry.
Nothing good gets away.
~John Steinbeck, 10 November 1958

Wouldn't this be a good and healthy belief system to hold onto?

do you love this house?
I do.
It has been in my files forever
and I wanted to finally share it.

Bring It On!!!

I have to tell you
good things are happening.
I am sending signals out to the universe
that I want, and am ready for new opportunities.
Am I suddenly seeing what was already there ?
or.....
 are they being sent ?

Something happened at work
 that is absolutely the lowest move
I have ever witnessed in my professional career.

And it happened to me.

When a few words came out of my boss's { and the owner } mouth.
It was shocking.
Yes.
And so unbelievable to me
that something inside me shut down.

I wasn't upset.

But, I must admit to you that
I had to reach down and pick up my jaw off the floor.

The details are irrelevant....{but i will tell you anyway}
and trust me, you would tell me to pack my things up.

The next day before a media room project
that I had been working on was supposed to close {sold}
{for 86,000.00 of which they - the company i work for -
had to invest $0.00 - it was all custom work designed my ME }

In a calm and mature {hahaha} way
I stood up to the owner
when she asked me about the project
and "was it closing tonight?"

Of course
this is all about money,
and not paying me my pathetic commission.
If these people can't mark everything up 100%
they take commission away from you {the salesperson}.

They do it because they can.
This is a 'right to work' state.

Anyway ....when she asked me about closing the big sale....
I asked her;
"what exactly would be my motivation?"
"you have taken the commission away from me on $64,000.00 of it?"
"that's not right, you have had to buy nothing....
to gain this money"
"And if you try and change anything in this media room by so much as by 1inch,
you will be able to sell no media chairs."

Suddenly she said to me;
{while picking her up her jaw off the floor}
" I never said that " {oh yeah? is someone telling a twisted little fib here?}
"no, you just get 1/2 your commission"

hahahaha

No way.
I have a witness.
The salesperson who turned the job over to me
was in the room when she said it.

What's that line from the movie with Jack Nicholson?
" hey lady"
 "you can't sell crazy here"
"we're all stocked up"

Don't even try to pull that crazy making crap on me!

I say;
"Bring it on baby!!"
"GIVE ME YOUR BEST SHOT!!!!"

I am ready.
There is something big, bright and shiny
coming down the road and heading straight towards me.
I just have to be ready to go.
I am.
It is my time.

Thank you C.S.
ps
what is going on with blogger??

Do You Like Limestone?

And iron work?
And casement windows?
And awesome stone work and detailing??

I am not wrong...
come along with me and look at this place.

Perfect Floors

I thought that this was a beautiful space-
so much so
 that I didn't feel the need to post a room that has been decorated
and tweaked to my taste or to yours.

This is gorgeous naked.
NO?

And if you don't get to Paris much....
this is what is all around you.

Actually,
this is why you need to get out of the house more.....
and maybe get over there.

Yesterday was my birthday-
{i'll alert the media!!! hahahaha}
 I should only age like this masterpiece of a building.

Sometimes-
well... almost always....
I think it is more interesting to look at an empty space
It is my blank canvas and I paint it in my head.

The Doors!

What can you see in this space?
I see a black grand piano

 Charles Aznavour
  singing
'SHE'
and pygmy date palms

 in giant oriental fish bowls on stands.
I guess I am a romantic at heart.
Well.... where interiors are concerned anyway.
XXX's

I love him!!
This is one of my favorite songs by him.

13 Months

Have you
 had good, fair, to a not so good experience with a builder or contractor?
Or even a furniture manufacturer?

I was doing a clients home here in Florida
across the street from the ocean in Delray Beach.
It was taking forever to finish this home.
We had to get the herring bone walnut floors done right,
the insets in the marble done.
And done right.

Expecting work 'done right' in South Florida is somewhat of an oxymoron.
Sorry Florida.
Only if you are using 'HIGH END' manufacturers, contractors, workrooms, and builders
can you expect good to perfect work.
And I need  'perfect' work'
Just remember there is no such thing as 'a deal,'
or an unbelievably great price on something that requires any sort of skill.

Back to the builder....
beside the fact that he was a smug spoiled brat who was in his family's business...
the building of this house went on for 2 years.
It may have been 10,000 sq. ft.
but C'mon!!!!

{he had the same size crew working on the Delray house}
He kept telling me fibs daily about this and that.
He said; " It takes a long time to do a home like this and of this size."
So...
I said;
 " Okay...You are a builder, and your family has been in the business
 here in Florida over 25 years. Right?"
 "That's right!!!"
said the smug little 40 something brat.

I said;
 "I am sure that you know it only took 13 months to build the Empire State building. Right?"

You might ask me; "SO, what did he say then?"

He said nothing. Like most men when they are in the wrong.

DID YOU KNOW
that the Empire State build was built in about 13 months?

I Never Met A Red Door I Didn't Like

"If you’ve ever noticed houses with red front doors you may have wondered- What does a red front door mean? Why did they paint their front door that bright color?

The history, origin and meaning of a home having a red front door is varied. There is no one origin for the red exterior door".

"If you are thinking of painting the front door of your home red, consider some of these meanings to decide if red is the right color choice for your front door. Your home’s exterior is important and how you paint your home reflects on you."

"Consider these meanings before heading out to buy home exterior paint:"
"In Feng Shui, a red front door means “welcome.” Feng Shui is a Chinese philosophy in which the arrangement and color of objects in a room relates to the flow of energy. The front door is known as the “Mouth of Chi” where energy enters. If you believe in or follow Feng Shui, painting your front door red would create welcoming energy".

"A red door means “welcome” in an old early American tradition. If a family had a red front door tired travelers traveling by horse and buggy would know that a home was a welcoming place to rest. They would be able to spend the night there."

"A red door provides protection. In Biblical times, the Hebrew slaves were instructed to smear blood of a lamb on their front doors to protect their first born from the angel of death. In old Catholicism churches painted the doors of the church red to represent the blood of Christ. Passing through the door would mean that you were on holy ground. Some believe a red door protects the occupants from evil."

"A red front door means mortgage-free. In Scotland, homeowners would paint their front door red to signify that they had paid off their mortgage."

Several of these images were taken in Ireland.

I wonder if it is a result of dreary weather.....

This was taken in Paris.
And a red front door right about now with a fresh
Christmas Wreath would look swell.

Do you like Red Front Doors?
I once saw a two story home in Westchester....
it was snowing , everything was white.
 I was driving around a neighborhood
looking at homes to possibly buy to live in with my husband.
I was about 25 years old.
I saw this home, it was painted white brick, with some natural brick showing through,
it was beautiful.
The shutters were black, there were black wrought iron window boxes.
Over the red front door was a pagoda styled over hang
made of copper.
And the front door was a brilliant lacquered red.
I loved this home.
It was out of our price range....
but all these years later it is still stuck in my head.

Do you have any homes stuck in your head?
